Welcoming New Season! (apologies for long silence.. :)
Dear friends,
we apologise for the long silence in the past months; where we haven't been able to update our blog & showcase new stuff. My hubby & I have been kept busy in coping with my pregnancy and preparing for a new birth. We are truly thankful to God for this new season in our life.
I'm not sure if we'll be able to create new blings in the coming months... but I do look forward to put my hands to work as soon as possible!
Our sincere apologies here too, if we're unable to comply to any of your request. Do know that this is only temporary, and we appreciate your understanding ;P
Meantime, we are grateful for your continuous support towards Especial. We hope to create unique & beautiful stuffs once we settled into the new season. We may also revamp our showcase in the coming new year. Well, till then, keep visiting our blog for updates.
Blessings & love,

My sabbatical year
A quarter of the new year 2008 is coming soon to an end... Just few days ago, I was recalling how I've spent the past one sabbatical year. It was really good although there were times when I still battled against sense of failure, insecurity and fear. Putting my time to good use/cause has always been a way of personal achievement and motivation in life. But something else was much lacking for recent years - my intimacy with God. It is ironic that doing good works was at some point "stealing" away my time with God. I was involved in teaching, praying, missions and many other churchy stuffs. Nonetheless, I was also struggling to keep up in my relationship with the Lord; to set aside quality time to seek His face. I knew then that something was amiss. There's an emptiness within my heart. I wasn't as passionate as I used to be in drawing near to God. I was distracted by many things and all those religious activities were becoming substitutes for God Himself. I was drifting away slowly from His presence... (Wonder if you ever feel that way before as a child of God?)
I felt as if something precious was taken away from me. If you were once close to His presence but now am no longer, you'll feel that same sense of loss too.
Last year, I decided to lay off some personal pursuits and give more time to the Lord. The sabbatical year at home wasn't an easy choice. I didn't feel good not having anything significant to do. The criticism of people around was also something very hard to face with. But the Lord assured me several times that I was doing "right". To rest in Him is of utmost importance than any other things. And God promised to provide my needs. He did faithfully. (I also thank God for a husband who is very supportive and fully convinced of what is most important for me at that point in my life.)
I found myself loving God all over again. Nothing can be compared to the joy of knowing Him as a personal friend. The passion for His reality in my life began to ignite afresh as I spent time in His presence. I reckon it all worthwhile to lay aside all things deem as important just to seek Him. I found back my joy as a child of God!
Dear friends, is God calling you to draw near too? You may not need to go on a sabbatical leave like I did, but God could be simply inviting you to spend more time in His presence daily. To be still and be alone with Him. You can't hear His voice in a noisy atmosphere/lifestyle. Know that you and I are made to worship. Know that God desires a deeper relationship with each one of us.
Before another quarter of the year begins, let's determine to put off the things that distract us and re-focus our attention to His Word and His voice.
Have a good day!
Blessings,
Especial

TV, or going to the movies, or talking to friends, rather than just
sitting alone with God and embracing Him, sharing His cares and
His burdens, weeping and rejoicing with Him, then how are you
going to handle forever and ever in His presence...? You'd be bored to tears in heaven, if you're not ecstatic about God now!”

My thots...God of Wonders!
Lately, I've been pondering over the word "Wonders" and especially so, as I read the book of Exodus in the Bible. The book of Exodus is one filled with the supernatural acts of God. The Israelites had suffered nearly four centuries of oppression by the Egyptians. It almost seemed like God has completely fogotten about His people. But this was not so. God is faithful and in His right timing, He raised Moses up to be the one who would lead the Israelites out of Egypt. In fact, God used Moses in great signs and wnders! God wanted His people (Israelites) and the Egyptians to know as well who He is through His supernatural acts.
To me, the parting of the sea is the most fascinating signs besides the ten plagues. When the Egyptians were hotly in pursue of the Israelites, God led His people to walk in the middle of the sea on dry ground with wall of waters standing on both sides! God makes a way of escape when there seems to be no way. It must have been an awesome sight then.
But everything started at the point of Moses encountering the burning bush in chapter 3. On one ordinary day, Moses saw a strange sight - a bush was on fire but it did not burn up. He was tending His flocks but decided that he shall go closer to look. There He encountered the Lord and received the call to deliver the Israelites out of Egypt. This was a turning point in Moses' life. This began a great adventure of faith with the Lord too. (Read up the book of Exodus to find out more) Had Moses not stopped whatever He was doing that day to go closer to look, he may have just missed it all! How often times in life we too see a "burning bush" and then simply walk away and say, "Well, it's just another burning bush"? The burning bush represents (to me) a divine encounter with God; knowing His reality, His presence and His heartbeat. It is God taking initiative to reveal Himself to us and draw us closer to Him. Our response does matters. How we respond to God at such defining moments determine the depth of our walk with Him thereafter. The question is - How hungry are we for God? How much closer do we want to get to God? Are we desperate for a miracle in our life now? Are we longing for a change this year?
Our life can never be the same after encountering the Living God. Don't just walk away the next time you come close to a "burning bush"... go closer because God may just be trying to catch your attention so as to speak to you and into your life. He wants you to know that He is a faithful God who keeps His promises and cares for you. He wants you to understand His heartbeat and invite you to join Him in His activity today. He wants you to know Him in a deeper way, like never before. He wants you to know Him in His glory and power. He wants to do miracles in your life. He wants to use you as well to show forth His reality in the world.
In my desire to see God working wonders, I've been praying for childlike faith. The Bible says that we need childlike faith to enter the kingdom of God. A child's nature is basically very trusting. In the same way, we too need to learn to trust God like a child. We need childlike faith to know that He is still the God of signs and wonders today, and nothing nothing is impossible for Him to do! We need to simply BELIEVE. Know that He is the God of Wonders, dear friends.
